The Geil-o-Mat prototype, a spinning wheel made from a paper bag and masking tape

Wie Geil? this Geil.

When you move to another country [I’m a Canadian in Germany], the fine nuances of a language are a series of ever-shifting goal posts.

The Geil-o-mat happened because I kept hearing “Geil” used with all sorts of adjectives to express all sorts of ideas. Somehow this brought to mind a verb conjugation wheel I had in high school French class.

I had a Rewe shopping bag, some masking tape and a dream. A few minutes later, the lowest of low-fi prototypes appeared. It spins, the window works, it’s silly in a satisfying way. So far so good.

The next step is to improve precision. And for that I need your help. What types of Geil should appear on the final version?

Please forward to friends, family and other at least tangentially related parties. The more data I have, the better Geil-o-mat I can make.

Send me your favorite Geil combination.
